Opening ceremony of the academic year at the “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy – October 1, 2014
The opening ceremony of the new academic year 2014 – 2015 took place today, October 1, 2014, at the headquarters of the “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy. The event was attended by heads of the Romanian Intelligence Service, representatives of partner institutions, such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense and the National Penitentiary Administration, representatives of the Romanian Intelligence Service central units, teachers and students at undergraduate and master programs.
As an institution that values competitiveness and the quality of the educational act, the “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy aims at strengthening the process of training professional skills, in accordance with the modern standards of intelligence services in the democratic societies.
Its main responsibility is forming a competitive human resource in the field of intelligence, which, by means of professionalism, passion and respect for the values and aspirations of the Romanian people, should be able to anticipate the evolutions of a volatile security environment, as well as to take effective measures to prevent threats to the national security.
The speeches held by the distinguished guests focused on the message to the Academy’s students to constantly invest in their personal and professional development an, alongside their teachers, to be a part in the implementation process of quality and competitiveness standards required from a university of the third millennium.
Lieutenant General Florian Coldea, First Deputy Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service, stressed out the importance of the “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy as “a main training base of the Romanian intelligence”, congratulating all the academic staff for their activity in promoting the improvement of the educational standards. He also congratulated the students for their skills acquired during their general training, ensuring them that, “beyond all the opportunities that come with the information era, the main weapon of an intelligence officer remains his/her brains”.
