Course Content
1 National and euro-atlantic security Deals with topics related to the security environment in which Romania takes on its national and collective security commitments, with a particular focus on the way in which Romania’s values and security interests can be preserved and promoted in a world of global threats. This objective can only be achieved through intense cooperation with NATO and EU allied countries.
2 Project management and the methodology of scientific research Presents the principles, forms, methods and results of scientific doctoral research. A particular focus is placed on the programming, planning and organization of doctoral research by taking into account its purpose, objectives and directions of the inquiry.
3 Modern and postmodern in advanced security studies The subject aims at transmitting the knowledge and developing the competencies related to the main security paradigms through a synchronic and diachronic approach. The focus is on the evolution of security paradigms in parallel with the need to respond adequately to the challenges of an international security environment marked by the emergence and dynamics of international, national and regional security threats.
4 Social responsability and security culture Explains the concepts and processes inherent to a culture of security by taking into account the social responsibility of each citizen and insisting on the way in which he or she can go beyond the simple status of being a receiver and become a contributor to the state of security. From this standpoint, security education becomes an extraordinary important element for assuring the well-being and safety of communities through the advantages gained from a citizen’s capacity to cuantify and analyse the way in which he she can be affected by the evolution of the security environment.
5 Security policies and strategies The subject aims at handing over knowledge related to the way in which the actors contribute to the establishment of a security environment which corresponds to the needs of citizens in terms of stability and progress.
6 The ethics of scientific research Approaches the way in which scientific research must be circumscribed to an ethical framework that guarantees scientific innovation in the context of transperency, robustness and validity.
7 Communication and techniques of social influence Explains the main processes and mechanisms of social influence while also anayzing the most vivid examples that can be found in the public space. At the same time, each technique of social influence will be analyzed with reference to the most important effects it could generate for or against the state of security.
8 Analysis and research in intelligence The subjects focuses on the study and understanding of the relationship between analysis and research within the field of intelligence.
9 Information for national security Deals with the way in which knowledge, prevention and counter-attack of national scurity threats may be ensured thorough a joint effort of the services and intelligence structures within the limits imposed by the Constitution and in the use of the citizens.
