Opening of the academic year at the “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy – October 3, 2016
The opening ceremony of the new academic year 2016 -2017 took place today, October 3, 2016, at the headquarters of the “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy. This year, our academic community is celebrating a quarter of a century since its creation.
This event, which for us signifies both a new start, and an unbiased assessment of the experience and traditions of the intelligence education system, was attended by representatives of the Romanian Intelligence Service leadership, delegates from partner institutions, such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense and the National Penitentiary Administration, representatives of various Romanian Intelligence Service units, teachers and students at undergraduate and master programs.
In his speech, Mr. Eduard Hellvig, Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service, congratulated the new generation of students “choosing a fairly difficult profession which is essential to the Romanian security”, pointing out the aspiration of “internalizing the values the profile of the National Intelligence Academy is based upon: excellence, dynamism and uniqueness”.
In his turn, Colonel Niculae Iancu, Rector of the “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy, emphasized the importance of carrying on with the complex process of re-conceptualization of the higher education-related objectives and programs, also reiterating the milestones of the current development stage of the institution, which are necessary for the Academy to manifest itself as a pillar of professional excellence and promoter of the Romanian school of security and intelligence.
The “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy wishes good luck to all its students in the new academic year 2016 – 2017.
