Intelligence in the Knowledge Society 2015 Edition
On October 16 – 17, 2015, the National Institute for Intelligence Studies within ”Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy organized the 21st edition of the international conference “Intelligence in the Knowledge Society”. The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests from 28 countries, academia and security professionals, establishing an open debate forum focused on national, regional, and global security agenda key issues. In his opening remarks, ”Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy Provost Niculae Iancu recalled key moments in the history of this scientific event, mentioning the milestones in building up a unique construction within the Romanian university landscape. At the same time, he highlighted the changes in the international security field, arguing that now more than ever, they trigger the need for development in cooperation among intelligence entities, the academic field and civil society, as a win-win partnership, harnessing each nation’s legitimate values. The Integrated Intelligence Office Director Constantin Dudu Ionescu underlined the need for cooperation among intelligence agencies by integrating information so as to better adapt to beneficiaries’ new requirements, to contemporary information flow, and to limited available resources. Participants welcomed the academic debates, practitioners and academia’s alternative approaches contributing to the conference success. This year’s event has confirmed a real, consistent dialogue on security-related hot topics and opened new perspectives for the 21st century intelligence organizations.
