Since 2000, she has been involved in researching and teaching within ”Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy. She has a PhD in sociology (2005), at Bucharest University, with the thesis "Romania Abroad: Image and Stereotype (Decade 1990-2000)". She has dedicated her over 15 years of teaching and research to investigating communication and intelligence analysis through a scientific perspective, involving herself in various national and European-financed scientific research projects, signing as author, co-author and editor, articles and volumes on security culture and security social perception investigations, and on developing knowledge management tools applied to various disciplines. She is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence and regional editor of International Journal of Intelligence, Security and Public Affairs (Routledge Taylor and Francis Group’s publications).
Associate professor Dr. Karin Meghesan, Head of Department
Since 2003, she has been a teacher at ANIMV, and since 2014 has coordinated INSI Department of Intelligence Studies within “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy. She has a PhD in political sciences (2001) at Bucharest University, with the thesis “Intelligence, Diplomacy and Foreign Policy Decision. The Role of Intelligence in International Negotiations. Case Study: The Role of Intelligence in Missile Crisis and in SALT1 and SALT2 Negotiations.” Karin Meghesan has a bachelor's degree in psycho-socio-pedagogy (“Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy – 1996) and a postgraduate academic degree in International Relations and European Integration (SNSPA – 1999). In the past 10 years she has been a lecturer in various disciplines including: political sociology, geopolitics, foreign policy and diplomacy, human rights and national security, analysis and exploitation of information, political psychology, introduction to intelligence.
Scientific Researcher Dr. Cristina Ivan, Head of Department
She coordinates INSI Department of Security Studies within “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy, where she has been a researcher and lecturer since 2008. She has a PhD in philology (2010), at Bucharest University, with the thesis “Translations of the Other Inner: Images of Violent Religious Extremism in the British Space in the First Decade of the XXI Century (2000-2010).” She graduated various courses and programs dedicated to cultural anthropology and security studies (University of Edinburgh, UK, Royal Jordanian National Academy etc.). In the past 10 years she has dedicated herself to researching violence, radicalization and terrorism, being involved in several scientific research projects with national and European financing, dedicated to the early detection of social violence, extremism, radicalization and configuration tools for early detection and response in combating terrorism.
